I've been getting the final song from "grease" stuck in my head with surprising frequency these past few days, particulary the part that goes "when we go out at night/and stars are shining bright/up in the skies above/remember the high school gang/ hm huuhuuh mbuh ang */ baby, it might be/ ooh ooh ooh-ooh-ooh ooh-ooh". I'm taking this as a sign that I'm supposed to post something for you all.
Soooo, mostly I feel like writing random bits of things that are coming into my head, but methinks I will first give a wee update on my life:
Basically, things are pretty well the same as they were before the winter break. I'm still going to school, still living with the lovely golden lentillians. We have a new roommate now because N. got married and moved out, so L.'s brother, C., has taken his place. (I like that I'm using capital letters instead of people's names. I can't remember if I've attempted to protect people's identities on this blog before- I'm quite sure I haven't. Well, it can be like super-secret-mystery-edition-blogpost where people's names are obscured and it's totally unhelpful! For everyone except me! Because it's fun for me!). Anyway, things are working out really well with C. living here. I like his company.
In the schoolclasses, I am taking English (from last term), Religious Studies (from last term), Swedish (term II, so pretty much continuing from last term, but not techinically), and Women's Studies. And I think I'm going to major in Women's Studies, because I was totally enthralled with my feminist philosophy class last term, and anything relating to gender theory is super-duper interesting to me. Now if only the term "women's studies" was something that the general populace understood to mean hardcore theory and deconstruction of the social world, given that that's what it is.
Okay, now onto various other things, mostly of little or no importance.
On the way to school today, my back decided to self-destruct. I don't actually know what happened, but I was jaunting along, and suddenly I could not stand upright because of the stabbing, shooting, stretching, aching feeling all over my back. It kind of felt like somebody snuck up behind me and gave a violent yank to all the muscular webbing giving my back structural integrity, then scampered off. Now I'm still able to stand and move and such, but it feels like my back has been shoddily repaired with masking tape, and I'm remembering what it was like to cut raw chicken breast with a dull knife, because that's how my back muscles feel like they've been treated. (It's actually not that huge a deal, I just felt like recounting that story in a dramatic fashion).
Last week there was rain in E-town. And when it was raining, it was doing so on top of about a foot of old snow. And then it froze. I am happy for my new grippy boots...
B's housemate J posted the most delightful pictures on her blog, and I think you all should take a look: http://www.sworn-to-lucidity.blogspot.com/
And now I have just heard the supper bell, so I shall bid you farewell. I love you all!
